Women's DBT Meditation & Skills Group. Wednesdays at 12:00. Mesa
I received my bachelor's degree in English from BYU, and a master's degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Utah State University
Much of my experience has been with people with autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and mental health concerns to achieve career goals. My current role allows me to help children, youth, adults of all ages to deal with any of the many issues that can make life confusing, complicated, or difficult. It is a profound process to sort through and make sense of complex issues, uncover answers and insights, and find personal strength – a process I feel honored to walk through together with my clients.
As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor as well as a Licensed Associate Counselor, I have a unique perspective of mental health and neurodiversity that focuses on personal strengths and solutions, as well as an underlying assumption that success is reachable!
I look forward to working with you!
Hometown - Arizona
I grew up in Ridgecrest, California, a tiny desert town populated by engineers (think Top Gun Maverick Navy testing!) I moved to the Phoenix area in 2017 to be in a bigger city with more opportunities. I was looking for a place in the Southwest with warm weather, and I found it!
Why I became a therapist
I love people and concepts, and I ended up becoming a therapist kind of accidentally -- I wound up in some counseling classes and found the experience unexpectedly profound and meaningful. I enjoy helping people find hope, meaning, strength, peace, skills -- whatever they need!
What I like to do on my day off
I grew up with lots of siblings and a few dogs, but I'm currently living with one sister, a friend, and an aquarium.
I also love playing games and spending time with friends and family, doing puzzles, and exploring various creative outlets.
Favorite books, movies and shows
One of my favorite books is To Say Nothing of the Dog . My favorite movies is The Princess Bride. I love exploring books and movies from unfamiliar parts of the world and the library -- fiction, philosophy, science, history, foreign language films, etc. The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating was a recent surprisingly interesting read.
