Life transitions, whether expected or unexpected, can feel overwhelming, uncertain, and isolating. My name is Kari Thompson, and as an LAC-T, I provide compassionate, client-centered support for children, teens, adults, and couples navigating meaningful life changes. These transitions may include adolescence, early adulthood, parenthood, career shifts, relationship challenges, identity development, grief, stress, or seasons of personal growth.
I was raised in Gilbert, Arizona, after moving here as a little girl, and Arizona has always felt like home. I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health with an emphasis in trauma and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Over the years, my passion for counseling grew through personal experiences, family influence, education, and more than three decades of working and volunteering in pastoral and community care. Supporting the emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of women, youth, children, and families has deeply shaped the way I approach therapy today.
My goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to process emotions, explore life experiences, recognize patterns, and develop practical tools for healing and growth. I believe each person enters counseling with strengths already within them, even when those strengths feel hard to access. Together, we will identify what may no longer be serving you and build strategies that support resilience, self-awareness, empowerment, and meaningful change.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, flexible, and tailored to each client’s needs, personality, and goals. I integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and other therapeutic approaches to help clients manage everyday challenges and move toward holistic healing. Therapy can be a meaningful space to feel heard, reconnect with who you are, and move forward with greater clarity, hope, and confidence.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family, laying by the pool, going to the lake, reading memoirs, watching period dramas and romances like Downton Abbey, and listening to an eclectic mix of music.
I am currently under the supervision of Julia Spain, LPC.
